Tangent annonce un nouveau pupitre (pour 2016)

C’est sur le forum liftgammagain – (excellent) forum anglophone consacré à la correction colorimétrique et à l’étalonnage – que Chris Rose (l’un des fondateurs de la société Tangent) a annoncé la nouvelle : un nouveau pupitre d’étalonnage devrait être présenté lors du prochain salon IBC. Et le moins que l’on puisse dire, c’est que sur le papier il s’annonce très alléchant pour l’étalonneur ponctuel que je suis.

At NAB some of you saw a couple of concept models for a low cost, trackerball only, panel that we were considering manufacturing. Well, we hope to have preproduction samples of the panel at IBC. So here’s the basics (as much as I can say right now):

– 3 x trackerball only with dials for masters
– Compact size
– Plastic construction
– USB
– $350 (estimated)
– On sale early 2016

This is not a replacement for any of our products, and it will be sold along side our existing Wave and Element products.The new panel is aimed at the editor, occasional colorist, DIT, hobbyist, student, training schools, or someone who is trying to figure out if a panel is the way to go.When you look at someone like an editor, they may already have something like an x-keys panel and a jog/shuttle controller. So we’re not trying to provide this for them. And a great many users are familiar with using the keyboard short-cuts, and are comfortable using on-screen sliders. The thing they don’t have access to is the essential 3 balls – this is what the new panel provides.

Donc en gros un pupitre qui ciblera les monteurs vidéos qui ne font pas de l’étalonnage tous les jours et qui n’ont pas besoin de pupitres avec 36 boutons mais d’un contrôleur qui va à l’essentiel (donc les 3 trackballs). Sa petite taille pourrait aussi être un avantage pour des solutions mobiles (station DIT notamment). La grosse nouveauté sur le secteur ? Le prix attractif estimé – 350$ – avec le sérieux d’une boite comme Tangent. Honnêtement, ça s’annonce bien !
